Every organization, at one point or another, will issue an apology. The apology, then, must tactfully and strategically take full responsibility, apologize swiftly and provide honest, clear, and consistent information about the situation/crisis. In my strategic communication class, we were asked to write an apology letter. The context of the assignment was to write a public apology letter on behalf of Consul General Jennifer McIntyre and the entire United States State Department to apologize to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for Ms. Chao’s inappropriate and racist remarks about Tamilians.
